Why we publish our scoring rubric

· Funnel Rating team · Methodology

Most “website grader” tools give you a number and a sales pitch. We think that is backwards.

Every Funnel Rating score is built from 38 checks across six dimensions. Seventy percent of the weight comes from objective signals — Largest Contentful Paint, layout shift, whether your form has 3 fields or 14, whether the page works on a phone. The remaining thirty percent comes from judgmental heuristics like headline specificity, which we weight lower because they are arguable.

Publishing the rubric forces us to be rigorous: we cannot hide a weight we cannot justify. It also means that when you disagree with a score, you are disagreeing with a standard you can read — and we want to hear about it.
